Passage Peak
When we moved here to Hamilton Island, I didn't realise that there would be walking trails and hikes we could go on. So, more than a resort island, they also have heaps of new little places to explore! Not to mention the 73 other islands in the Whitsundays, but we'll save that for another day.
On top of the world.
We used to hike up The Mount (favourite) and I honestly, terribly, miss that view to bits. So, when we finally made the time one afternoon to hike up Passage Peak, I was thrilled!
On one side, you can see the Whitsunday Island (above), and another view is the great expanse of Hamilton Island and Catseye Beach (below).
The sign says it will take you around 1 hour to get to the top. Thankfully, we timed ourselves, and it was a realistic and relatively challenging hike which we finished in 34 minutes (one way). There were a lot of inclines, but I also thought there were plenty of flat portions where I could catch my breath.

I'm practising the art of not being afraid, and Sam always encourages (happily pushes) me to go beyond my comfort zone, even if I scream like a wuss to get there. He saw this rock, said it would make for a good photo, so okay here I go climbing big rocks and jumping on the edge of things.

What people don't see are the photos of my face full of fear, joy, confusion, and discomfort. Haha. I love that I get pushed into situations that I wouldn't normally be in.
I'm learning that it's okay to have fear, but being stuck because of it is unacceptable. I'm learning to try new things, to push past fear, and to surrender to the joy that lies ahead and the gift of being alive in the here and now.
I can't wait to make this hike a more regular part of my week!
